Was it wrong to out Lance Bass?

Lance Bass comes out. Hurray for him. My very own Frankenstein's monster, Perez Hilton, takes most of the credit, but in retrospect, it sure seems that Lance had been planning on coming out for some time. First, he shows up everywhere with the openly gay Reichen Lehmkuhl, then he's spot wearing Reichen's clothes and vice-versa and then, he shows up at Provincetown gay dance parties. So, basiclly-- once again, shitty celebrity gossip columnists are nothing more than tools of the people they are supposedly "exposing."

I was originally going to be all "boo for evil outing bloggers" about Lance coming out, but in retrospect, it seems Lance just stopped hiding, built up some buzz and well-- landed on the cover of People magazine. I've been working on an article about Perez for some time now and one of the main problems I've been dealing with is "How do you answer the question 'What private rights does a public person have?'" I mean, it's totally gaytarded to run around writing on your blog- "So and so's a big fag! Come out!", but it's not actually immoral. My personal feeling is that I am the arbiter of what the world knows about me and while gossip mongerers can say whatever they like, but damn they are annoying.

In the words of Neil Gaiman "It is the prerogative of idiots and children to point out that the emperor has no clothes, but the idiot remains an idiot and the emperor an emperor."
