*Monday's always the busiest day of the week, and so, in lieu of my usually measured and self-important commentary, here's a random sampling of what's on my mind:
- Read the last issue of The Atlantic at B&N on Sunday. There's an extended look on a post Roe v. Wade America (something The Atlantic seems is possible/likely to happen before 2008) that basically says, "The Republicans would be fucked by the backlash." This seems true (though I don't think Roberts is all nutty to overturn Roe, honestly) in the larger sense as well- every movement towards social conservatism that the Republican party makes seems to fragment their base, energize the Left and make the G.O.P. lose ground. I was telling the Kryptonian over tofu at Newsroom that if you think about, George W. Bush may just be the best thing ever for progressives. When I was growing up, it was considered to be "uncool" to be political. Nowadays, the phrase "I'm not political" is the best invitation for a smack in the head.
- I am going to boot camp.
- Guerrilla Gay Bar was way cool. Three cheers to Ryan and Matthew for making it a success.
- Working the Pride booth was fucking depressing. I had the 4p.m. to 8p.m. shift, so it was just a steady parade of progressively more tragically drunk and fucked-up people passing by. I don't dislike Pride, I just don't get why we choose to celebrate it as "crappy county fair with circuit music".
- Specimen Days is awesome.
