Blah. It's the end of the day and I promised to do a blog today (it's on my "To Do" list and everything), but I'm in no mood to research and entertain, so I'm just going to talk about something I know: me.
So, it's my birthday season. April 28th, for those people who want to send presents. And one of the great things about being an Arts & Entertainment editor is that when it comes to things to do, you're never at a loss. So, here's what I'm doing this year to celebrate me. I guess this is only valuable to people in the sense that all these things are super cool and you should check em' out.
- Société Anonyme- As you might guess from the name, I lurv Modernism, so I'm going to the press opening of this great Hammer Museum show where the curator can tell me why Marcel Duchamp liked cigars so much.
- Josh Rouse- Is the most underappreciateed pop singer in the universe. I'm seeing him at the Henry Fonda
- Bouidor Burlez- Selene Luna's starting up her own party at the Palms (yeah, the lesbian place). Bricktops kids should go.
- My Barbarian @ REDCAT - Uh, I have no idea what this is, but it's at REDCAT and "combines music, theater, dance and visual art in sublime sexy songs, surreal scene-stealing and phantasmagorical feats of pure fantasy fun". Works for me.
- Black Rider - William Burroughs performance art hoo-ha at CTG.
- Then I'm off to Lake Powell for my birthday weekend.
- Party the following week.
Only thing missing- I'd kill to go to
Xtreme Fighting Championship: The Rebirth at the Gibson Ampitheatre. It's April 27th and would just make my bday. You think I'm joking? Two words:
Wander Braga. Or I could just show you this picture of him tackling this other guy:

Now that's the stuff dreams are made of.
