So, I love craigslist. With Friendster and gmail, craigslist forms the core triumvrate of my online life. I sell my crap on it, I look for jobs, and I secretely imagine what would happen if I took up one of the offers in the rideshare category, which is essentially hitchhiking for people who plan everything. My favorite part of craigslist, however is finding the crazy ad. This one is from New York:
Seeking Gamblers, Strippers, Guys with Eating DisordersMy favorite parts are the obvious ones:
"Prostitute: 20-30, but we can't tell if she's 24 or 34 - any ethnicity. Should feel very real. Very trashy."
" Gambler: Mid 30's any ethnicity. Someone who has ruined his life gambling, maybe it has hurt his family."
The most interesting thing is that "Rodney", the guy who posted the listing wants the "actors" to be people who "actually are the characters that are described in the breakdowns", even though this is "a documentary style comedic commercial for a major cable network". So, Rodney wants real whores and guys who have hurt their family to share their horrific pasts for a funny
ad spot.
Just in case you might think this is a tad exploitative, know that "there is pay involved which will be the SAG Promo rate of $305 plus any over time if there is any. "
